Portable Planetarium & observation of the solar eclipse in Vathi Ithaca on Tuesday 25.10.2022 with FREE participation of students of Primary & Secondary Education.
We would like to inform you that the Management Unit of the National Parks of Zakynthos, Ainos and Protected Areas of the Ionian Islands in the framework of the implementation of Subproject (1) "Recording, Promotion & Promotion of the Geopark of Kefalonia - Ithaca" of the Act "Recording and presentation of the Geosites & Geodromes of the Geopark of Kefalonia - Ithaca for the purpose of its inclusion in the UNESCO Geoparks" is expected to organize a full-day thematic seminar on the effect of light pollution on wildlife, sun observation/astronomy, skywatching with the use of a portable planetarium on 25. 10.2022 in Vathi Ithaca.
The Portable Digital Planetarium, one of its kind - a special semi-permanent portable fixed dome structure with chairs for viewers, travels to Ithaca offering a unique audiovisual teaching experience. Its dominant feature is a hemispherical projection screen with a diameter of 6 meters and a surface area of 57 square meters! It can be installed both indoors and outdoors, has no problem with rain and the space is air-conditioned, with heating in winter and cooling in summer. The Portable Digital Planetarium inspires and educates people of all ages. From Kindergarten children to the Third Age. By showing the exciting discoveries in space exploration, it contributes to our understanding of the world around us, opens viewers' horizons, inspires and educates about what surrounds us, about the Earth itself and our place in the universe. An astronomy event includes projections inside the Portable Digital Planetarium while observing with a telescope, the Sun with special filters during the day or the starry sky at night (weather permitting).
On Tuesday 25 October 2022 we have a partial solar eclipse from 12:40 to 14:00 visible from Ithaca, so from 13:00 to 14:30 any student or teacher could come to observe the solar eclipse with a telescope (regardless of the projections).
Covid free. Fresh air is continuously introduced into the dome through air ducts, with a total air renewal every five minutes. All workers in the planetarium have a vaccination certificate.
Capacity: The planetarium has 36 chairs and can accommodate approximately 40 spectators at each viewing, with the more than 36 spectators seated on cushions. Disabled people and wheelchair users are also accommodated.

For Kindergarten: "The Enchanted Reef - Kaluoka 'Hina"
For 1st and 2nd grade: "A Perfect Little Planet" or "The Enchanted Reef - Kaluoka 'Hina"
For 3rd and 4th grade: "A Perfect Little Planet" or "Earth's Climate"
For 5th and 6th grade: "The Climate of the Earth" or "The Sun - Our Living Star"
Middle and High School students can attend all productions, with the suggested: "From the Earth to the Universe"
