On the occasion of International Geodiversity Day (6 October), Kefalonia–Ithaca UNESCO Global Geopark, together with the Ionion Center for the Arts and Culture, co-organised the International Meeting of the 4th International Arts & Environment Festival "We Are Nature". The meeting took place on Sunday 4 October 2026 in Metaxata, Kefalonia.
In a single day, we travelled a long way without leaving the room:
from the rocks of our Geopark
to the sea turtles of our shores
from the dark skies above Mount Ainos
to the links between food, health and art
Each speaker, in their own language, reminded us of the same truth: geodiversity and biodiversity, art and science, places and people are all part of one world.
Now these ideas need to become action: new research, new artworks, new school activities and new partnerships between art, science and protected-area management
Geopark remain committed to this path, and our door is always open to anyone who wants to walk it with us.
A warm thank you to all our speakers, both in the room and online, to the Ionion Center for the Arts and Culture, to Dr Pierre Leichner and to everyone who worked behind the scenes to make this day possible
See you at the next edition of We Are Nature 2027!
