We are thrilled to announce that the Kefalonia-Ithaca UNESCO Global Geopark is proudly participating in the European Geoparks Network (EGN) Coordination Committee and celebrating the 10th Anniversary of UNESCO’s International Geoscience and Geoparks Programme (IGGP).
Our geopark, located in one of Europe’s most tectonically active regions, showcases over 50 unique geosites, including caves, sinkholes, and ancient geological formations spanning 250 million years. With its rich cultural heritage, from Homeric landmarks to Byzantine monasteries, it stands as a beacon of sustainable development, geotourism, and education.
Stay tuned for updates on our activities as we continue to promote and protect this extraordinary natural and cultural treasure!
